1. CHECK FOR WEDDING BLACKOUT DATES
The most common first step in the wedding planning process is picking out the wedding date! Many brides feel a rush to pick out this date as soon as possible due to the many other important details that ride on it. Be sure not to rush this process and consider important personal dates, holidays, days of remembrance, and other days you may want to avoid! You can check out the article Wedding Dates to Avoid by The Knot.
2. HIRE A POINT PERSON
It is important to have one designated person to keep contact with vendors, field questions from vendors, and make sure all of your wedding details are in place. Even if that person is only in charge on the day of the wedding, you will be glad to have them there! You will take a great deal of stress taken off of your plate by having a point person!
3. BE MINDFUL OF FOOD ALLERGIES
Your wedding should be based on your desires and preferences, but do still keep your guests in mind when planning. If possible, ask guests in their RSVP (online or on paper) if they have food allergies or dietary restrictions. They will be grateful you thought of them! At The Belle Hollow, we offer delicious in-house catering. Contact us and let us know if your guests require any special dietary needs!
4. PACK A CHANGE OF CLOTHES
If you are traveling anywhere other than straight home after your wedding, you will want to pack something comfortable to change into. Designate a person in your family or party to make sure these items go where they need to so that you can get cozy before you head out!
5. BOOK A HOTEL ROOM BLOCK
Room blocks are great for out-of-town guests. You can call a hotel in the area of your venue and block out rooms that your guests can later book. There is usually a discounted rate and your traveling guests will have peace of mind knowing they have somewhere to stay! Make sure to do this especially if you are getting married on a holiday weekend.
We hope these reminders are helpful in your planning process! There are many more details involved in wedding planning, so be sure to consult your vendors, venue, and/or wedding planner to be sure everything is set to go for your big day! It’s perfectly normal to have some slip-ups here and there. Remember to make the decision ahead of time to enjoy your day no matter what and don’t let the little things take away from the memories that will be made!
